Select Architects were to realise and intergrate the client’s functional planning and construction methodology in an Australian context for a large building and significant project for the local area, 5,000 sqm new ‘hypermarket’ building and elevated store and car park.
The site was previously the home of ‘Le Cornu’ furniture store, a household name in Adelaide and a prominent site with rich history of Australian manufacturing.
Our design challenge was to balance prominence and visibility of this large project with the desire to integrate the project with the existing streetscape and preferred neighbourhood character.
We communicated and coordinated with key stakeholders and specialist consultants as well as research international existing facilities.
We used BIM technology for design and documentation, and developed specialized BIM standards for procurement.
