The redevelopment of the school site was an integral component of a broader vision for educational provision in the City of Greater Geelong and associated suburbs. The design needed to reflect and underpin the latest pedagogical principles and practices, incorporating learning and communal spaces that were flexible, open and friendly. ICT access was required in all areas and needed to incorporate the needs of both students and staff, supporting the delivery strategies that result in an engaging and innovative curriculum.
As the Principal Design Consultant, Select Architects worked through the Master Planning, Design and Construction phases of this project seamlessly with the Victorian School Building Authority, Consultant Team, Builder, and School to deliver this exceptional project.
The interior carpet scheme draws from inspiration from the Flinders Ranges, also the scheme is integrated with the building materials themselves. The open plan learning spaces are adaptable to create varying functional areas.
The building consists of 7 General Learning Spaces, Science Tech Room, Food Tech Room, and 2 Art Rooms.
An outdoor learning space has also been constructed with a beautifully integrated landscape, with indigenous artwork carvings throughout by Indigenous Artist Gerard Black, to tell the stories of the Traditional Owners.
