The brief for this holiday house was inspired by the stunning environment and required a carefully considered response given its location.
The one hectare site is located in a remote area on a steep, rolling hillside with breathtaking views.
Responding to the site conditions, this pavilion style house was designed to sit gently into the landscape with an orientation that captures magnificent views and minimises its exposure to the elements.
The external treatment includes a natural timber facade that will evolve over time as it weathers giving it an understated, muted grey tone. Three distinctive, traditional rendered brick chimney stacks complement the elegant design.
The house surrounds four internal courtyards giving it much needed protection from the elements, especially wind and rain. High quality contemporary finishes throughout complete this luxurious, yet humble family holiday home that provides a generosity of space without ostentation.
