Armstrong Creek is a new suburb on the outskirts of Geelong. Select Architects were responsible for the master planning of a 34 acre site designated for mixed use development including high to medium density residential housing. Retail precincts and community facilities including a library, neighbourhood centre and childcare centre.
We identified a need for a mixed-use development to promote a living and working relationship:
• A focus on community life
• A sustainable centre
• A rich mixture of housing options and densities
• Identifiable “bones” as a framework for future development
• Structure that engenders and facilitates change and adaptability
The strategic concept plan for the area and neighbouring land required close collaboration with the local Council and community consultation to ensure the social, health and economic wellbeing of the new community lasts well into the future.
