Formerly a cluster of commercial shops anchored by a medical centre, this brown field site was the diamond in the rough for our client. The site provided an entry into the pulsing and vibrant retail precinct in Hawthorn, Adelaide. Our brief was to realise the potential of this prime blue chip site with a contemporary retail offering for the local community.
The setting of the site and surrounding uses required a carefully considered design response which departed from the generic store design of our client. The site itself presented challenges with an abutting creek, heritage trees, a steep topography and activation of a key intersection, all of which required a close partnering collaboration with the council and other key stake holders.
