Built in the 1950s as a wool store, Steampacket House is in a prime Geelong waterfront location within the Deakin University precinct. The building is evolving into a series of modern and professional office spaces.
Select Architects has completed several projects including the rehabilitation of the existing façade and carparking as well as access upgrades.
The final vision was to retain and upgrade the existing building for mixed use development while protecting the building’s heritage and the local amenity. The design of the site provides a contemporary and unique design outcome that will engage with the public realm and ultimately enhance Geelong’s profile.
This maximises the potential of the site and responds to the urban context by incorporating a mixture of uses, improving activation of street frontages and maximizing economic development opportunities.
